The trip of the zoo takes approximately 2-3 hours and below is the complete guide. The Zoo is lit. The zoo is approximately 70km, 30-45 minutes' drive from Muscat. The entry fee is very nominal, but it is different for Omani citizens (2 RO) and residents/tourists (3 RO). It is a privately owned zoo with a lot of animals with total of nine sections segregated on the basis of animal types. The zoo has kids play area, an open restaurant and private cabins as well for families. The toilets and prayer halls are small and not in a very good condition. The Jabal Shams Canyon Jabel Shams is approximately 244km, three and a half hours' drive from Muscat. The road is paved until the last 17-20km which are unpaved. The good thing is that even sedans can be taken to Jabel Shams but if you are a tourist, we do not recommend going on a sedan, rather take AWD or 4x4. Tourists can stay for a day or two and visit two hiking points from the resort site.
