Outline for Hajj Application |
Be a Muslim Omani citizen or a valid resident.
-
Be at least 18 years old.
-
Have not performed Hajj in the last 10 years (for residents).
-
Be physically and financially able.
2. Register Online
The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs (MERA) in Oman handles all Hajj registrations. Without this registration, one cannot perform Hajj on his own from Oman quota. Follow these steps:
-
Visit: www.hajj.om (the official portal).
-
Create an account or log in using your civil number.
-
Fill in the application form with personal details, passport info, and health data.
-
Upload documents: Passport copy, resident card, vaccination record (especially meningitis and COVID-19 if required), and a passport-sized photo. Please make sure that residents hold valid visa for the tenure till the end of Hajj Season and Passport also has same tenure of expiry left.
🗓️ Registration opens a few months (approximately six months) before Hajj season — usually between Sha’ban and Ramadan. Keep an eye on announcements from MERA.
3. Wait for the Lottery
Due to limited quotas, MERA holds an electronic lottery to select pilgrims. You'll receive an SMS or email if selected.
4. Choose an Authorized Hajj Operator
Once selected, choose a licensed Hajj agency from the MERA-approved list. These operators will:
-
Handle your visa, flights, and accommodation.
-
Provide guidance and orientation before departure.
Make sure to compare services and pricing before committing. Everyone should do due diligence and compare the benefits provided by the Operator.
5. Pay the Fees
Costs vary depending on the package. Most range from OMR 1,800 to OMR 2,500. Payment is made directly to the operator.
6. Attend Mandatory Briefings
Selected pilgrims must attend official Hajj awareness sessions organized by MERA or your Hajj operator.
Quick Tips:
-
Have a valid passport (minimum 6 months validity).
-
Ensure all vaccines are up to date.
-
Women must travel with a Mahram (for first-time Hajj).
-
Follow all Saudi and Omani travel and health regulations.
Final Note: Applying for Hajj from Oman is straightforward if you follow the official steps and deadlines. May Allah grant your intention and make your journey blessed and accepted.
Below is the final draw and quota results from the lottery of 2025. The quota is approximately same every year with a little change in the numbers for expats and citizens.
